An explosion at a military base of Khorramabad in Iran has killed Iran's elite “Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)” and Hezbollah militants.
“On October 12 an explosion that occurred in a military base of Khorramabad. The authorities report more than a dozen of military personnel were killed. Other sources add that as a result of the blast 6 representatives of Lebanese Hezbollah movement were killed, 15 more Lebanese were wounded,” an Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera” reports.
According to diplomatic sources, militants were training to use anti-aircraft missiles. “According to the statements of Tehran, the blast was an accident, while the opposition supposes it was sabotage. Meanwhile, the head command of the IRGC does no exclude that the reason could have been a technical fault, that is why Iranians are set to address the supplier, Belarus.
After signing an agreement in 2009 Belarus started to sell armaments to Iran instead of Russians: first Moscow promised to deliver a modern missile system S-300 to Iran, but then refused on diplomatic grounds, the author of the article reminds.
“According to the information we have, Iran has already received different types of missiles, which later were forwarded to their Lebanese ally Hezbollah. 20 missiles “Strela -2” are on the list, two SA 16 systems and one SA 18. Washington is following the constant influx of armaments to Hezbollah movement with great concern. The US fear that Lebanon could become a theatre of a new military conflict,” the newspaper underlines.
