A tsunami threat has been declared in the Far East region and the US.

A new earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale has been recorded near the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. A tsunami threat has been announced in the region of the Far East and the United States.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Russian publics.

The earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea 93 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of 123 kilometers, the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences said.

Furniture wobbled in people's homes, chandeliers swayed, and at the airport the vibration nearly broke electronic boards.

There is no information about casualties or damage yet.

A tsunami threat has been declared on the Kamchatka Peninsula, with one and a half meter waves approaching the coast. All emergency services in the region have been put on high alert.

In addition, the U.S. Geological Survey has announced a tsunami threat due to the earthquake, and the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Sakhalin Region Department has announced a similar threat on the Kuril Islands.
