We are witnessing a “once-in-a-century flood.”

Analysts are drawing their first conclusions from the midterm elections in the U.S. The quotes are provided by "Radio Liberty".

Sean Trend, an analyst at RealClearPolitics: “If you’re looking at this and are only superficially familiar with the elections, understand this: you’ve witnessed something rare—a landslide that happens once in a hundred years. This could easily be the party’s worst election since 1974... This isn’t a tsunami or anything like that. It’s a complete collapse of the Republican coalition.”

Elliott Morris, electoral analyst: “This amounts to the biggest victory for any party since 1974. It’s a rejection of the ruling party on the scale of the Watergate scandal.”

Lakshya Jane, Split Ticket: “It’s already happened, and it will be interesting to see what remains once the dust settles. The worst election for either party—since 1982, and perhaps even since Watergate.

This is an absolute drubbing for the Republicans. This is perhaps the worst situation they’ve faced in over 40 years. They’re losing South Carolina, on the verge of losing Texas, and support from Latinos and white working-class voters is slipping away from them.”

In the November 3 election, according to U.S. media projections, the Democratic Party took control of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Counting is still underway, and the exact breakdown of seats between the parties is not yet known, but the Democratic Party is expected to secure a significant majority.

The Democrats won races in which their chances had been considered slim until recently. The election confirmed a major shift in voter sentiment, as indicated by public opinion polls.

This could turn out to be one of the party’s worst defeats in congressional elections in decades.
